How to calibrate the battery of a laptop

When we put our laptop a new, recently purchased battery, it may be that the measurements performed by the computer on battery capacity may not be correct. This causes our laptop to consider, before time, the battery is running out and enter standby or turned off.

We must calibrate the battery or laptop, we need to tell your computer to verify the capacity of the new battery and not be guided by the old battery we have replaced.

With information from battery manufacturers and laptops we've made a guide that helps us solve this problem.

Calibrating the battery of a laptop:

Inside the battery there is a microprocessor software that calculates the battery volume during loading and unloading. Occasionally the battery has to be calibrated for the computer to recognize and display correctly on-screen time and freight volume. When using the battery for the first time it is advisable to apply a full cycle of loading and unloading. Proceed as follows:

  1.     With the computer off, connect the power charger to the computer and leave it charging at least 3 hours
  2.     Disconnect the computer power charger
  3.     Turn on your computer and go to "Setting Power Options": Start / Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Power Options / Change when the computer sleeps suspension / In the column "On battery" and "with AC" select "Never" in the fields "Dimming the screen", "Turn off display" and "Put the computer to sleep state"
  4.     Let the computer turns off, because it has exhausted the battery charge.
  5.     When loaded again you can now access the configuration options that changed before and leave them in their previous state.
  6.     Then turn off the computer.
  7.     Connect the charger and let it charge until the charging light battery turns green, indicating that the load was completed. On some models the battery light turns white and other turns off when charging is complete.
  8.     Press the power button to start the computer.
  9.     Press F8 repeatedly when the logo of the brand of computer, before the start of windows appears.
  10.     When the Advanced Windows startup menu appears, use the up and down arrows to select Safe Mode and then press Enter
  11.     When the Advanced Startup Menu window appears, select the Startup in Safe Mode option
  12.     Disconnect the charger equipment.
  13.     Allow the battery to discharge completely until the computer turns off.

The battery I been calibrated and measurements should now be correct.
