Ten tips to extend the life of your laptop battery

One of the main problems posed by laptops is the battery life. Not all have a long life, and even if it ends up dwindle with use over time. In tuexperto.com we have made a small collection practices to extend the autonomy of the teams.

Some are common sense, but other customs are not so widespread. Ready?

1) Decrease activity monitor

To keep the brightness and clarity, the screen requires a lot of energy. If your intensity is lowered, we will save enough battery. Control to do so is usually a secondary option of one of the function keys (which carry an F or Fn front of a number). It is represented with a symbol of sun with icons up and down.

2) Change settings

A little to explore, discover that many operating systems include energy saving features. These include suspending the computer automatically when it takes a certain downtime.

3) Disconnect the WiFi

WiFi connection, but not enough, it consumes a lot of battery constantly. The system is always on the lookout for wireless networks. So, if disconnected when not needed to access the Internet, it will affect a significant savings. In the event that the computer does not have a switch to do so, it is manually deactivated via the Control Panel, in particular, the Network Access option.

4) Turn off peripherals

The innocent mouse, webcam or external disc also squeeze the battery. Is the motherboard that feeds them. If you will not use, the better disconnect. Another beneficial practice with USB flash drives is to pass data from the flash memory as soon as possible and then disconnect the port. Moreover, many notebooks have buttons to turn off the webcam.

5) Remove the optical disc drive

If available player or recorder CDs and DVDs, it is best to remove the disk when not in use. Especially before putting your computer to recharge the battery.

6) Add extra battery

Some laptops support much trot and remain operating almost all day, while others perform occasional tasks. It is best to investigate which model best fits our needs. Batteries consist of cells; a greater number of cells, the greater their autonomy (and price, of course). If the maximum of cells is still not enough, there is the possibility of replacing the batteries and replace them with longer-lasting batteries.

7) Remove the programs that do not use

If before we look at the hardware, we now focus on software. Often they accumulate in the applications at the end, not used for any system. However many of them, by the mere fact of being installed, energy demand. If disabled, a saving is achieved.

8) Do not confuse laptop with a desktop

It is a common practice to keep the power plugged into the laptop all day. A custom that harms irreparably. A laptop is a portable, so it is best used as such.

9) Wait for the end of the charging process

Another fatal habit is to not allow the charging of the battery is completed. If interrupted, the device suffers and eventually dwindle capacity.

10) Keep your computer clean and tidy

The team often accumulates "crap". Documents we receive via e-mail, images, useless tools ... A lot of elements that ultimately become disorganized, which must be maintained and that, ultimately, are worthless except to occupy space and consume energy. The healthy thing is that the machine remains free of ballast and all items ordered. To do this, it is convenient to defragment your hard drive occasionally. When we do, the files will be "repositioned" automatically and maintain order.Print Friendly Version of esta pagePrint Get a PDF version of esta webpagePDF
